Remove your existing device
Removing devices from your Nero Network that are no longer present is good practice to ensure the mesh maintains a reliable working state and to prevent devices being shown in the UI that are not able to be interacted with. Where possible it is best to remove a device by following the steps in Remove a working device.
Removing a working device
- Go to the device information page by clicking the green arrow next to the device you wish to remove.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Delete button.
- In the dialogue that appears select Unpair.
- Once the blue bar appears with "Remove devices now" on it, trigger exclusion mode on your device.
- Nero Multi, Nero Reed, and Nero Plug: Press the action button once.
- Nero in-wall devices: Press the button connected to i1 3 times over 3 seconds or press and hold the Service button on the device for 2 seconds.
- When confirmation appears your device will be reset. Wait at least 30 seconds before attempting to include or exclude another device from the network as the gateway will perform several housekeeping tasks now.
Removing a non-working or missing device
Only perform these steps if your device is no longer working or has been removed from site. Avoid using these steps for devices that are still in the network reception area.
- Go to the device information page by clicking the green arrow next to the device you wish to remove.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Delete button.
- In the dialogue that appears select Delete.
- It may take up to several minutes for the device to fully disappear from the UI of your gateway. This is normal, please allow it time to process the request.
If you delete and device but it is still onsite and paired when the network heals itself it will show up again. Always remove a device from site or factory reset a device that has been through this process.
Reset your device during pairing
If your device has previously been included in another network and was not reset before attempting to include it in your network the process will fail. During the pairing wizard there is the opportunity to reset your device and then continue the pairing process.
- Start the wizard for your device and follow the steps.
- On the pairing screen if you are unable to pair the device (it does not respond even when following the pairing instructions) you can click on Retry. The gateway will take a few moments and now be in Remove your device mode.
- Follow the steps for excluding your device now. The gateway should detect the device fairly quickly.
- Click Try Again and follow the steps to pair your device to the network.
Factory reset your device
