Nero 10V Dim
The Nero 10V Dim is used to control 0-10V devices via a voltage signal, such as LED strip light drivers.
The module can be controlled either through a Z-Wave Controller or through a wall switch.
The module supports the connection of a digital temperature sensor (available separately).
Nero 10V Dim operates as a repeater in your mesh network, increasing reliability and range when combined with other Nero devices.
Nero 10V Dim doesn't directly control the load, allowing you to use the device to control a very large driver for large dimming applications.
Dimming type
The Nero 10V Dim is an active style 0-10V dimmer, following IEC Standard 60929 Annex E for ballast dimming.
The two 0-10V control types are current source (a theatrical dimming standard) and current sink (a dimming ballast standard). There is an IEC standard for current sink controls - Standard 60929 Annex E. The standard requires that the ballast (or driver) provides full light output when the control voltage is 10 Volts (or above). As the control voltage is reduced by the control, the light level is reduced. At a control voltage of 1 volt, the ballast (driver) provides its minimum light level.
Any voltage less than 1 volt is defined as minimum. Some drivers' minimum is off, while other drivers' minimum is the lowest light level of the driver (commonly 10%). It is important to understand what your driver's behaviour is, as a separate relay or switching device may be required.
An additional specification that needs to be considered is the current carrying capacity of the control. Standard 60929 Annex E requires the ballast (driver) to limit the current draw to 2.0 mA maximum.
Installation
- Before the installation, disconnect the power supply
- Connect the module according to the electrical diagram
- Locate the antenna as far as possible from metal elements
- Do not shorten the antenna
- Nero 10V Dim required a DC power supply, the module is not compatible with AC power.
Do not connect the output minus to the LED output minus on your driver, these do not share the same negative rail and will damage the driver and the Nero device.
Supported Switches
The module supports momentary switches (push button) and toggle switches. The module is factory set to operate with momentary switches.
Nero 10V Dim can also support 0-10V inputs, including temperature sensors, dials, and general putput regulated outputs. A standard potentiometer can also be connected to the input terminals.
Wiring Diagrams
Nero 10V Dim does not share input wiring between the power supply and the input terminals. Do not connect the input switch to the power supply at all.
