Your Nero gateway has a permanent factory IP that can be used to access the unit when there is no network connection or you are having trouble connecting to the unit over the local network. You can access this factory IP in two ways:
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the gateway and then directly to your PC (no switch or crossover cable required).
- Connect to the gateways WiFi access point using the password on the label on the bottom of the unit.
If the gateway isn't broadcasting the access point name you can perform a network reset by pressing and holding the reset button on the side of the gateway for 6 seconds and waiting for the gateway to reboot.
When connected directly to a computer with an ethernet cable your Nero will not have an internet connection, thus some features will not be available.
Get the factory IP address
The IP address of the NEXUS-NERO Controller is generated using the last 4 characters of the MAC address. The letters are converted to numbers based on their order of the alphabet. Take the example MAC address below:
e.g. if the MAC address is D4:21:22:FC:BC:9D
The IP address for this gateway will be: 192.168.23.94
Set a static IP address on your computer
Once you have determined the IP of the gateway you will need to configure a static IP address on your computer to allow you to connect to the factory address. The factory default IP is always in a Class C subnet (which is 255.255.255.0 or /24 when seen in your IP settings) so your computers IP need to match the first three parts of the address. In this example, we could use the IP address 192.168.23.100 for our computer as it is in the same range that the gateway can access.
