Using the buttons on the gateway
Your Nero Gateway has 3 buttons which can be used to interact with the Z-Wave network, connect to WPS WiFi, and reset the gateway.
Sync Button
The sync button allows you to interact with the Z-Wave modem of the gateway without needing to load the web interface. It has two functions.
- Press the sync button once to put the gateway in Z-Wave inclusion mode.
- Press the sync button for 3 seconds to put the gateway in Z-Wave exclusion mode.
When a device is discovered the LED will blink rapidly for a moment and then return to the previous state. While the gateway is configuring the new device the LED will be off. DO NOT unplug the gateway until the LED returns to the pairing and unpairing state.
WPS Button
WPS is known to have flaws that result in a lower security connection to your network than standard a WiFi join. Only use WPS if you are unable to use the standard WiFi pairing method.
The WPS button can be used to join your Nero Gateway to a WiFi networking using the WPS authentication method. Pushing the button will enable WPS pairing for 1 minute.
Reset Pinhole Button
You will require a thin object to press the reset button. We recommend using a phone SIM tray tool or paperclip. Do not use sharp objects.
- Press and hold for over 20 seconds to factory reset the gateway. This will reset all areas of the gateway including your Z-wave network and account ownership (remote login account).
Troubleshooting the hardware
What to do if your Service LED is flashing
If your gateway's service light is blinking it means the unit is having issues connecting with the Nero Cloud services. The steps below will help you troubleshoot the issue.
- Reboot the gateway by disconnecting power for at least 20 seconds. This will ensure the gateway attempts a fresh connection to both the local network and the cloud service.
- If your gateway is plugged into a switch or WiFi extender, try plugging it directly into your modem/router and testing again.
- Reset the network interface of the gateway. If you can't access the web interface of the gateway you can press the reset button on the side for 5-10 seconds. This will reset the Ethernet and WiFi settings but won't affect your Z-Wave network.
- If you have a backup of the gateway perform a factory reset by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds. After the gateway completes the reset process (this may take some time) you will be able to pair it back to your account and upload the backup again.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please get in touch with us by raising a ticket.
Z-Wave light is not coming on
When the Z-Wave LED has been off for an extended period of time (more than a few minutes) it may indicate that there is a problem with the gateway LUUP engine. The steps below will help you troubleshoot the issue.
- Reboot the gateway by disconnecting power for at least 20 seconds.
- If the Z-Wave light still doesn't turn on, perform a factory reset by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds. After the gateway completes the reset process (this may take some time) you will be able to pair it back to your account and upload the backup again.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please get in touch with us by raising a ticket.
Power and WiFi LEDs are solid
If only the Power and WiFi LEDs are solid for an extended period of time the gateway may be having issues booting up. The steps below will help you troubleshoot the issue.
- Reboot the gateway by disconnecting power for at least 20 seconds.
- Perform a factory reset by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds. After the gateway completes the reset process (this may take some time) you will be able to pair it back to your account and upload the backup again.
