Your Nero gateway will automatically create a backup once a day and keep them for approximately 30 days on our Nero cloud. It is always recommended that you make a manual offline backup though to ensure that you can recover from issues that may not be noticed before the online backups are useless.
Creating a backup
It is recommended that once you complete and Nero Install that you back up the configuration of the job and store it locally. We also recommend taking a new backup when you make major changes to your system.
- Click on Settings and then Backup.
- Click Create Backup in the top right.
- Always click Backup Z-Wave Network and wait for the status bar to show the message “SUCCESS! Backup is finished” before proceeding.
- If you want to upload this to the Nero cloud as well as download it, select Upload backup on server before proceeding.
- Click Create Backup.
- A file will now download to your computer. You can rename this file to make it easier to identify and move it to a secure location on your computer. Do not unzip the file, the gateway will not recognise the file if it has been unzipped or modified.
Restoring a backup
- Click on Settings and then Backup.
- Select the type of backup you want to restore:
- Find the backup in the list of nightly backups that you wish to restore. Select the Restore Z-Wave Network option for that line to ensure that your full system profile is re-applied.
- To restore your own offline backup, drag the .tar.gz backup file to the Upload section or click Upload and select the file on your computer. Select the Restore Z-Wave Network option under the Upload field to ensure that your full system profile is re-applied.
- Click Restore and allow the gateway to fully apply the backup. This process can take up to 15 to 20 minutes if your gateway also needs to re-install plugins from the community app store.
