Nero Reed

The Nero Reed is a slim, rechargeable, battery-powered sensor that can be used to detect if a door or window is opened or closed. It includes small magnetic strips to allow for easy installation and is compatible with any other strong magnets for custom solutions.

Built-in battery

Your Nero Reed has an internal rechargeable lithium battery that will last, on average, 6 months on a full charge. The battery can be charged with any 5V/1A USB power supply and any standard Micro USB cable. When the Nero Reed is charging, the orange LED will be on. When the battery is fully charged the LED will become green.

Sensors that trigger more often, such as on a busy doorway, will deplete their battery faster than quiet sensors. Your gateway will provide battery level feedback in the UI and you can also enable low battery reporting to ensure you don't forget to charge a sensor.

Installation

Always pair your Nero Reed as close to the gateway as possible. We recommend pairing it next to the gateway and moving it to the final location after the LED has turned off, indicating the device is fully paired.

• Fully charge your Nero Reed before pairing, this will ensure the device lasts as long as possible on initial installation.
• Pair your Nero Reed to your control gateway by putting the gateway into pairing mode and then pressing the action button on the back of the unit.
• Wait for the LED to fully turn off before installing your sensor in its final location.
• Ensure that the magnets are not too far from the sensing corner of the unit. You should see the LED flash green each time it notices a change and sends a message to the gateway. If your sensor isn't flashing, rearrange the magnets to ensure they are easily detected.
