Nero includes an alert type that informs you when the gateway and the servers are out of communication for a period of time. This alert when enabled can result in a lot of false positives which can lead to reliability concerns.
We recommend that you disable this alert if you aren't noticing any connectivity issues.
What is the alert?
The alert is triggered when the gateway is detected as not connected to the Nero Cloud for any period of time. Any type of disconnection in the normal process of the engine (excluding reboots and power outages) will cause the alert to be sent.
Why are there so many false positives?
This alert was designed to identify when I gateway way disconnected due to errors or problems in the Nero Engine many years ago. The sensitivity means that many normal reconnects get identified as a disconnects erroneously, causing an alert to be sent.
Is this going to change?
Improving this alert is on the roadmap for the Nero Cloud however there is currently no timeline specified.
Disabling the alert
The alert can be easily disabled by going logging into My Nero in your web browser and connecting to your gateway.
- From the web browser interface go to User & Account Info in the side bar
- Select Notification Settings
- Disable the option "NEXUS-NERO Offline Alert (your NEXUS-NERO lost its Internet connection)"
- Click Update Notification Settings at the bottom of the page to save
